Good negotiation skills are critical for achieving great contracts for my sellers.

My real estate career commenced in Cairns in the early 1990’s. Once my two daughters became old enough for mum to be able to work weekends and the odd hours of a sales agent, I ventured into sales. I never looked back, always loving the variety of people I met on their real estate journey. Cairns is a city that is tourism orientated so I created opportunities for myself to sell ‘off the plan’ apartments as well as traditional homes and apartments. A highlight of my career in Cairns was being ‘runner up’ REIQ Salesperson of the Year for the Cairns Region. By the time cyclone Larry hit Cairns our children had graduated from university and were no longer in North Queensland. The turning point had come and we moved ourselves and our horses to safer pastures in Tallegalla, near Marburg.

Many of my friends and relations told me “you won’t be able to break into the market in SE Queensland”. Fortunately, I had faith in my own abilities and I joined L J Hooker Laidley/Plainland in 2012. Once again I never looked back and I became an LJ Hooker Captain, top 15% within a few years, then rising to a Multi Million Captain, top 7% in 2021 and 2.5% in 2022.

Whilst I was working for an independent real estate agency in Cairns, I had always admired the professionalism and comprehensive data base systems of the LJ Hooker franchise. Now that I use these systems on a daily basis, I really do understand their value to my sellers and how just being part of this international franchise assists our sellers in obtaining the best possible price. I like to think that I now combine the benefits of a large franchise with the wisdom of my many years in the industry.

The best bit is, every day I enjoy putting smiles on the faces of my buyers and sellers.
